Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, has said that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East following the joint military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran will not turn into a prolonged war. However, he said that the situation will take some time to resolve.
In an interview with Fox News aired on Monday, Netanyahu said that the military action against Iran was inevitable as the country was allegedly building new nuclear and missile facilities. Netanyahu said that the facilities were allegedly being built underground and would soon become extremely difficult to attack.
Netanyahu said that Israel and the United States decided to take military action against Iran before its military facilities became untouchable. Netanyahu said that the military action against Iran was aimed at achieving a quick and decisive outcome.
“You’re not going to see an endless war,” Netanyahu said during the interview. “It’s going to take some time. It’s not going to take years. But we do know we can achieve a quick and decisive outcome.”
The Israeli head of state also claimed that the Iranian government has accelerated its weapons development program after the 12-day conflict that took place at the beginning of June, where the United States and Israel conducted a joint operation targeting Iranian targets.
According to Netanyahu, the Iranian government has initiated the construction of new facilities and underground bunkers that will protect its ballistic missile and nuclear programs. Netanyahu claimed that if the situation was not addressed immediately, the military operations targeting the Iranian facilities would not be possible in the future.
Regarding the duration of the conflict, Donald Trump, the head of state of the United States, has provided different estimates. However, the latest estimate by Trump indicates that the conflict is expected to take more than four weeks before the situation is stabilized.
The recent developments in the Middle East conflict have raised concerns among other countries across the world. The situation is a cause for concern because the region is highly volatile. Despite claims by the head of state of Israel that the conflict is short-lived, the situation is a threat to the security of the world at large.
