A devastating fire broke out in a residential building near Palam Metro Station in Delhi, resulting in the death of at least nine people and leaving several others injured. The incident has sent shockwaves across the city, raising serious concerns about fire safety measures in densely populated areas.

According to officials, the fire started in the early hours, quickly spreading through the building due to highly flammable materials and narrow passages that made evacuation difficult. Residents were caught off guard as thick smoke engulfed the structure within minutes.

Firefighters from the Delhi Fire Service rushed to the scene and launched an immediate rescue operation. Multiple fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze, which took several hours to fully extinguish.

Emergency teams managed to rescue a number of trapped residents, many of whom were suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. The injured were promptly shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, where some are reported to be in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos, with people jumping from windows to escape the flames. Local residents also joined rescue efforts before emergency services arrived, helping to save lives.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary reports suggest that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the blaze, though officials have not confirmed this yet.

This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement of fire safety regulations in residential and commercial buildings across Delhi. Officials have urged building owners to ensure proper safety measures, including functional fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and regular safety audits.

Further updates are awaited as rescue and investigation efforts continue.
